Transitional Jobs Program

The Transitional Jobs Program (TJP) was first implemented in 2018 and employs individuals who may have been previously incarcerated or have other barriers to employment. NC MedAssist collaborates with Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont to identify candidates through their Working Smart curriculum, which helps these temporary associates develop job skills and build their resumes.

As OTC products are donated to us, our associates are trained in product handling, sorting, organizing and customer service. Over the 120-day program, associates learn the management processes and eventually lead the warehouse and OTC store operations.

During this first year of the program:

82% of associates have found permanent employment (above national averages)

3 have secured more stable housing – that includes one young lady who was able to bring her daughter home to live with her instead of extended family
