NC MedAssist Receives $475,000 Grant from The Duke Endowment to Address Healthcare Disparities

Charlotte, NC [March 11, 2025] – NC MedAssist is proud to announce a significant grant of $475,000 from The Duke Endowment to further its mission of improving healthcare access and addressing disparities among North Carolina’s most vulnerable populations. This generous support underscores a shared commitment to breaking down barriers to quality healthcare.

NC MedAssist is dedicated to serving marginalized communities through impactful outreach programs and strategic partnerships. By collaborating with organizations that focus on underserved groups — such as those facing financial challenges or racial disparities — NC MedAssist continues to make meaningful strides toward health equity.

Established in 1924, The Duke Endowment is a private foundation that strengthens communities in the Carolinas by supporting initiatives in healthcare, education, children’s welfare, and rural church development.

NC MedAssist is on a mission to dispense hope through improved health. As North Carolina’s only statewide nonprofit pharmacy, NC MedAssist provides prescription medication at no cost to uninsured NC residents falling at or below 300% of the federal poverty level. NCMA provides over-the-counter medicine to all residents through its OTC Free Store and at over 40 Mobile Free Pharmacy events throughout the state annually. Last year, NC MedAssist served 67,104 North Carolinians and distributed $61.6 million in prescription and over-the-counter medication, helping save North Carolina approximately $98 million in uncompensated healthcare costs.
