NC MedAssist Receives $175,000 Grant from The Leon Levine Foundation to Support Medication Access for Vulnerable Communities

Charlotte, NC [February 5, 2025] – NC MedAssist is proud to announce a generous $175,000 grant from The Leon Levine Foundation, continuing a longstanding partnership to improve healthcare access for underprivileged residents across North Carolina. For more than a decade, The Leon Levine Foundation has supported NC MedAssist’s mission to close gaps in health equity and provide life-saving resources to those in need.
In the past year, this impactful collaboration enabled NC MedAssist to provide nearly $55 million worth of free prescription medication to over 16,000 individuals and families, empowering underserved communities to overcome barriers to healthcare access.

With this latest funding, NC MedAssist will further expand its reach, ensuring that even more individuals and families have access to essential medications and healthcare services.

NC MedAssist is on a mission to dispense hope through improved health. As North Carolina’s only statewide nonprofit pharmacy, NC MedAssist provides prescription medication at no cost to uninsured NC residents falling at or below 300% of the federal poverty level. Last year, NC MedAssist served 67,104 North Carolinians and distributed $61.6 million in prescription and over-the-counter medication, helping save North Carolina approximately $98 million in uncompensated healthcare costs.
