NC MedAssist is honored to announce a new $525,000 grant from The Leon Levine Foundation, awarded over three years ($175,000/year), to support our mission of providing life-saving medications to uninsured North Carolinians with low income. This milestone, multi-year investment builds on a valued partnership that has spanned more than a decade and reflects a shared commitment to improving health outcomes for underserved Carolinians.
As North Carolina’s only statewide nonprofit pharmacy, NC MedAssist works to close critical gaps in medication access for individuals and families who fall at or below 300% of the federal poverty level. Sustained operating support from The Leon Levine Foundation allows NC MedAssist to plan strategically, strengthen core programs, and respond to growing needs across the state.
Last year, NC MedAssist served over 91,000 individuals and families through its programs and special initiatives, providing an economic benefit of over $140 million to the state of NC. By expanding access to prescription medications and OTC products, more neighbors can manage chronic conditions, prevent medical crises, and maintain stability.
“This multi-year investment allows NC MedAssist to expand access to life-saving medications for our most vulnerable neighbors” said Brenda Vass, CEO of NC MedAssist. “With this support, we can ease the burden of having to choose between purchasing one’s prescription medication or their basic needs.”
This new grant builds on previous support from The Leon Levine Foundation and reinforces efforts to improve health outcomes for vulnerable communities throughout North Carolina.
Based in Charlotte, NC, The Leon Levine Foundation’s mission is to empower underserved Carolinians to be self-sufficient and strengthen the Jewish community.
