This year, we celebrated partnership. We were proud to recognize several remarkable individuals and organizations who exemplify dedication, innovation, and service through a shared belief that medication access shouldn’t depend on one’s ability to pay. Their partnership is critical to our mission and the impact we’re able to make. Congratulations to all of our award winners for their outstanding contributions to improving access to life-saving medications across North Carolina.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our sponsors. Your generous support makes events like this possible and directly strengthens NC MedAssist’s ability to serve our communities.

Celebrating Changemakers with Blue Cross NC

At this year’s NC MedAssist Executive Luncheon, we celebrated the inspiring individuals and organizations driving health, wellness, and access to care across North Carolina. We are especially grateful to Blue Cross NC for sponsoring the awards, helping us recognize these changemakers for their dedication and impact. Their support ensures these stories of commitment and innovation are highlighted, inspiring our communities to work together toward a healthier future.

Dispensing Hope Partner Award

Samaritan Health Center

Partnership is critical to the work we do. More than 60 percent of the patients we serve through our Free Pharmacy Program are connected to us through over 130 Partners in Hope and other community referral sites across North Carolina. Through a shared belief that access to care shouldn’t depend on one’s ability to pay, these partners are essential to our ability to make an impact.

One such partner is Samaritan Health Center in Durham, NC. Through compassion, intentionality, and a deep commitment to their patients, Samaritan Health Center works to ensure individuals don’t fall through the cracks. Their team connects patients to NC MedAssist and other critical resources — helping people better manage their health and access life-saving medication.

This kind of partnership makes our work possible. Because when organizations work together, more people receive the care they need to live healthier lives.

Because of their outstanding collaboration and passion for improving the health of their community, were proud to recognize Samaritan Health Center as the 2026 Dispensing Hope Partner Award recipient.

Thank you to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, our Awards Sponsor, for helping us celebrate partners who make this impact possible.

Together, we can expand access to care — and dispense hope across North Carolina.

Bridging Gaps Award

Atrium Health

Closing the healthcare access gap takes more than good intentions — it takes long-standing partnership and meaningful investment.

For nearly three decades, Atrium Health has stood alongside NC MedAssist to help expand access to medication across North Carolina. From volunteer support and patient care guidance to leadership and financial investment, their commitment has helped thousands of individuals and families access the medications they need.

Over the past decade alone, Atrium Health has invested more than $940,000 in support of NC MedAssist’s programs — helping serve more than 80,000 individuals across our state.

This is what true partnership looks like: showing up consistently, investing meaningfully, and working together so communities can thrive. At this year’s Executive Luncheon, we were honored to recognize Atrium Health as the 2026 Bridging Gaps Award recipient.

Special thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, our Awards Sponsor, for helping us celebrate organizations that are breaking down barriers to care.

Together, we can bridge the gaps — and build healthier communities.

Inspiring Action Award

Heart to Heart International

Access to basic medication can restore comfort, dignity, and stability.

For years, Heart to Heart International has helped NC MedAssist distribute essential over-the-counter medications to individuals and families across North Carolina. When Hurricane Helene impacted Western North Carolina, they stepped forward once again — responding quickly to help ensure critical supplies reached vulnerable communities.

Because when urgent needs arise, action matters.

Their generosity has helped communities access the basic health supplies that make a meaningful difference — especially during times of crisis.

We were proud to recognize Heart to Heart International as a 2026 Inspiring Action Award recipient at this year’s Executive Luncheon.

Thank you to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, our Awards Sponsor, for helping us celebrate partners who turn compassion into action.

Together, we can meet urgent needs — and create lasting impact.

Inspiring Action Award

Charlotte Rescue Mission

Rebuilding lives takes opportunity, support, and partnership.

For decades, Charlotte Rescue Mission has walked alongside individuals working to overcome addiction and hardship while creating pathways toward stability, healing, and independence.

Through our collaboration, participants in Charlotte Rescue Mission’s programs have the opportunity to enter NC MedAssist’s Transitional Employment Opportunities initiative — gaining work experience, confidence, and the support needed to prosper.

This partnership reflects a shared belief: every individual deserves the opportunity to improve their health, their circumstances, and their future.

At our 2026 Executive Luncheon, we recognized Charlotte Rescue Mission as a 2026 Inspiring Action Award recipient.

Special thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, our Awards Sponsor, for helping us celebrate organizations that inspire meaningful change.

Together, we can create opportunities — and change lives.

Igniting Hope Award

Carolina Complete Health

When Hurricane Helene disrupted access to medication across Western North Carolina, Carolina Complete Health didn’t just offer support — they showed up.

Week after week, their team volunteered their time to help deliver medication care packages directly to communities across the region — often traveling multiple counties in a single route.

When funding challenges forced the program to pause, they stepped forward again — investing $100,000 to relaunch the effort and ensure continued access to medication.

Since the relaunch, more than 12,200 individuals and family members have been served.

This is what igniting hope looks like: compassion, action, and commitment when communities need it most.

We were proud to recognize Carolina Complete Health as the 2026 Igniting Hope Award recipient at the 2026 NC MedAssist Executive Luncheon.

Thank you to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, our Awards Sponsor, for helping us celebrate partners who help sustain hope.

Together, we can respond to need — and strengthen communities.

Joyce Award for Excellence in Volunteerism | Bobbie Hague

For nearly a decade, Bobbi Hague has quietly and consistently made a difference.

From sorting medication and training volunteers to supporting events and Mobile Free Pharmacy efforts, Bobbi has dedicated more than 650 hours to helping expand access to care across North Carolina.

Inspired by family values that emphasized giving back whenever possible, her commitment to service began long before NC MedAssist. Today, she continues to live that belief through meaningful and impactful volunteer work.

Volunteers like Bobbi are the reason our mission continues to grow.

At this year’s Executive Luncheon, we were honored to present the 2026 Joyce Award for Excellence in Volunteerism to Bobbi Hague.

Thank you to our generous sponsors!
